Dental Implant Bridge With Porcelain Restoration

What Is A Dental Implant Bridge

First think of an ordinary dental bridge that fills a large gap between natural teeth. A dental implant bridge is similar. The “bridge is supported by two or more dental implants instead of natural teeth. An implant-supported bridge is used when the expanse of the bridge can no longer be supported by your natural teeth. The bridge plays the role of filling in the gap of missing teeth but also disperses stress placed on dental implants.

At BetterDental in Apex we start with a consultation and x-rays to make sure you jaw bone and gums are in excellent health to begin the implant process. The implant base is made of titanium and resembles a screw. It is surgically placed in the jawbone and then a porcelain crown is added. A porcelain bridge that is color matched and shaped to look like your real teeth and connects to the implants to form a bridge. They are made of porcelain attached and fused to a substructure of metal.

The average cost for a dental implant partial or bridge is between $3,500 and $8,000. Higher cost is reserved for more complicated cases where many teeth are missing, the jaw bone density is compromised or previous trauma complicates the procedure.

If the implants will be placed next to natural teeth, the natural teeth and surrounding gums must be in good health. If you don’t have enough bone to place and support the dental implants, the supporting bone can be built up using bone augmentation or grafting before the actual implant procedure begins.
